Golden Jubilee Cultural Evening


1. Bharathanatyam by Students of Shri Ramana Maharshi Academy for the blind (5:30 pm to 6:15 pm):  We present Bharathanatyam performed by visually challenged children from Shri Ramana Maharishi School for the Blind, Bangaluru. This performance highlights that differently abled people posses wonderful skill set and balance and needs only support from the wider community to live with self respect and dignity. The Group have performed in more than 2000 stages in India and Abroad.

2. Bangari Singari - Dance Drama by Salangai Cultural Academy (6:25 pm  to 7:45 pm):  Devadasi Sisters Bangari and Singari lived in 13th and 14th century in Bahour region of Puducherry. During a period of drought and famine these sisters gave their wealth and land to  construct Bangari canal connecting Thenpennai  River to Bahour Lake. Their contribution to provide solution to water scarcity can be found in Latin epigraphy at Aayi Mandapam, Puducherry. Smt Jayasree Narayanan, Director of Salangai Cultural Academy Puducherry developed this production based on Barathanatyam style after  3 years of research . This dance drama illustrates the rich cultural heritage of Puducherry
